Minister’s Spring Message – 2012

2012 might go down in the record books as the “Winter That Wasn’t!” Although, in the next 6 weeks or so we could yet get a blast of winter as payback for all the mild weather!

Balance! Notwithstanding Global Warming trends, nature seems to have a way of balancing things like sunshine, rain, snow, etc. If not in the same year, then over several. When Noah and company got off the Ark on dry ground, the Lord promised, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” (Genesis 8:22)

This promise speaks to the balance that God has planned for life. Even in a year when winter has been mild, we can trust there will be summer. In life, there are “winters’, sometimes mild and sometimes severe. With faith in God we can be sure that a Spring will again bloom in our lives and ripen into the richness of Summer.

In the “seasons” of our faith, Easter marks the transition from winter to spring – from death to new life. Kinda gives new meaning to the greeting “Happy Easter”!

God Bless you, and Happy Easter!

Rev. Rick Burgess
